John N. Couchman Ltd is a Palmerston North based service business that was established in 1953 by John Couchman to provide superior electrical solutions to industry. His motto was to “reduce down time - now and in the future”.

This meant dropping tools and running to a breakdown and getting the plant back up and running. Control gear was replaced, not repaired and preventative maintenance fine tuned.   Today this ethos continues as our culture of Customer Care for our Electrical and Phone/data Comms customers.

Delivering innovative solutions with our can do attitude by our awesome team is what keeps our clients coming back.

The Team

We cover a large range of technologies so we employ not only specialists, but also people that are multi faceted. This has a distinct advantage for our customers as our people can identify key building infrastructural elements and leave them alone and/or pick up problems that may be about to arise. A classic is keeping the electrical cables the correct distance from data cables. Often it also means that one person can fix several things during one visit.

We have an ongoing commitment to training the next generations and are constantly upskilling our people. Apprenticeships form part of this.

Health and Safety

There is a high level of commitment to H&S in our Company. An outside consultant is employed to manage and coordinate the systems and procedures. These have been recognized by ACC who’ve accredited us, for several years now, at Secondary level. We’re currently working towards Tertiary accreditation.
